PSM uses dominant third quarter to defeat Morton

Providence St. Mel (6-5) defeated Morton (4-7) 72-50 Saturday morning on the final day of the 2017 Proviso West Holiday Tournament. PSM ends the tournament with a 1-2 record while Morton went 0-3. 

PSM's Deion Jackson drained three three-pointers and led all scorers with 25 points. He also contributed a team-high seven rebounds and two steals. Eric Jordon nailed five triples and finished with 15 points. 

Morton had three players in double figures, Stephon Jordon (14 points), Latik Murphy (10 points) and Jamajae Garner (10 points). Murphy picked up three steals while Alexis Landeros had nine rebounds and two blocks. 

Morton hung close in the first half and held its largest lead of the game (31-28) with 2:31 left in the 2nd quarter. PSM scored the final five points of the first half and took a 36-34 advantage into the locker room. 

PSM opened the third quarter on an 8-0 run and never look back. PSM outscored Morton 25-4 in the third quarter and ended the frame with 14 consecutive points.
